1. What is Back Stage?
Back Stage is the actor's resource-a brand that aims to give actors all the information they need to succeed. In practical terms, it is actually two products: a national newspaper and a website. The newspaper is sold on newsstands in New York, Los Angeles, and select other areas, as well as nationwide by subscription.
BackStage.com is the website that encapsulates information from both newspapers as well as having its own unique content.
Back Stage also oversees the publication of Ross Reports and its website, RossReports.com. Ross Reports is published every two months. Ross Reports is available on select newsstands and bookstores as well as by subscription.
2. What are the differences between Back Stage in print and online? How are they the same?
First and foremost for our readers, both in print and online we publish casting calls and production listings, especially for New York City and Los Angeles. Both also include some news, features, columns, and theatre reviews.
With the three products, we strive to use the strengths of each medium to their best advantage. In the newspaper, we publish current events as well as over a dozen weekly advice columns, many of which never appear on the website. The Back Stage newspaper is best described as a publication to curl up with on a Sunday or take with you on the subway-stories you can savor.
BackStage.com delivers updated news and casting throughout the day. Plus, BackStage.com offers casting from all over the country-many not available in print. Every week, we publish dozens of notices from areas like Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, Seattle, Atlanta, Denver and many more.
Most importantly, web subscribers get free access to our incredible Multimedia Resume Database. With that, you can store your resume, several headshots and audio or video reel-for no extra charge! (Included in the price of membership.)
BackStage.com also has video, weblogs, and a dynamic message board. We have web-only features and columns. Finally, we have our Actors' Yellow Pages, which allows you to access a wide range of photographers, classes, and more. Put simply, BackStage.com has the information when you need it, in web time.
Each has distinct advantages. Together they're even better!
3. How do I subscribe to Back Stage?
Back Stage offers a variety of affordable deals for subscribers. You can buy a combination of print and online, print only, or online by itself. You can also choose varying lengths for your subscription: With the newspaper, we offer a six-month, year, or two-year subscription. For online, we offer prepaid six-month or yearly subscription, or month-to-month.
4. When is the website updated?
All day every weekday. Some casting and news are added on weekends, as needed.
5. How do I place a casting notice?
Back Stage accepts casting notices from all parts of the United States. For areas outside of New York City and Los Angeles, submitting a casting notice is free. (Within NYC and Los Angeles, there is a small fee; however, your ad will also appear in our newspaper.)
Back Stage aims to provide actors with as much information about acting jobs as possible. Therefore, we may contact you to ensure that your information is complete and accurate.

7. Does BackStage.com offer any email newsletters?
Yes. We offer two. We offer NY Actor and LA Actor, which are a free weekly emails that showcases the best of the news, features and columns.
8. How can I change my email address at which I receive the E-Casting newsletter? Or unsubscribe?
In either case, simply follow the instructions at the bottom of the email you've received. Note: Discontinuing an email subscription will not cancel your BackStage.com membership.
